Zeitgeist'Oakville Station' Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

New $205.00 750mL
Zeitgeist 'Oakville Station' Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 - K. Laz Wine Collection

It would be hard to find a more prized location for growing Cabernet in the valley than Oakville Station—bordered on three sides by To Kalon Vineyard and touched on the fourth by Martha’s Vineyard. Cabernet has been planted on this site for over a century. Oakville Station, UC Davis’s long-standing research vineyard, is among the most studied in the country. Its mix of heritage Cabernet vines and experimental plantings produces wines of notable depth and consistency. With access limited to a select few, its fruit is both rare and highly coveted. Mark and Jen age their wine for 20 months in 80% new French oak. Aromas of baking spice lead into notes of boysenberry compote and a hint of violet. The wine is both polished and powerful.

About Zeigeist:
Zeitgeist was founded by Jennifer Williams and Mark Porembski, a husband-and-wife duo who also craft acclaimed wines for several other top wineries. Jen helped usher in a new chapter at Spottswoode from 2004 to 2010, first as vineyard manager and later as winemaker. She also contributed her expertise at Pahlmeyer and currently leads winemaking at Arrow&Branch and Kelly Fleming Wines. Mark, a Napa Valley veteran with more than two decades of experience, began his career at Far Niente, Araujo, and El Molino before taking the helm at Anomaly. Together, they work with a select group of top vineyard sites and, with two precise palates guiding the process, bottle only the best barrels.
