Walter Hansel‘Cuvée Alyce’ Chardonnay 2020- Special Priced 3-Pack
We recently tasted this newest vintage of 2020, and like in previous vintages, the one take-away we always have with their Chardonnays, is that their quality is unmatched at their price point. Walter Hansel’s emphasis on low yields (a miniscule range from 1.5 to 2.7 tons/acre) only enhances the wine’s complexity. Since all their grapes are grown on their own property, they can exercise strict control in the vineyards, which are planted with 5 Pinot and 5 Chardonnay clones. This 2020 was produced using the Hyde-Wente, Hudson-Wente, and Dijon Clone 95. It was whole cluster pressed into one-year old French oak for 12 months and came from the highest elevation of their vineyard sites. It opens in the glass with baked apples and baking spice with just the right amount of acidity to keep it refreshing and very drinkable. 708 cases were produced.
