TOROakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This is one of the best Oakville Cabernet Sauvignons at this price point. It was sourced from Tierra Roja Vineyard and Skellenger Vineyard. Tierra Roja is a site that used to produce their own wine which I loved and supported when they first launched in 2004. If you drive Oakville Cross Road to Silverado Trail, directly in front of you is Tierra Roja, a small four-acre hillside vineyard. Below Tierra Roja is Skellenger Vineyard which has a long history of excellent Oakville wines coming from their grower site. This 2019 shows the classic Oakville cabernet notes of cassis, wet earth, and black cherry. “Upon tasting you are struck with the very rich/dense and long palate that shows the lift and brightness that Oakville brings to cabernet. There is bittersweet chocolate, mint, tobacco, and espresso as the wine tails off to a long and silky finish.”
