Skipstone Viognier 2014Alexander Valley

This has been and continues to be one of the best, if not the best, Viognier coming from Northern California. The vines are planted along five rows that ribbon the top of the north ridge of Skipstone’s exquisite amphitheater-shaped vineyard. It offers precise aromas of exotic fruit with just the right amount of acidity to prevent it from getting too heavy. It underwent full malolactic fermentation but you would never think that because it’s lively and balanced and while it has a full-bodied texture, it’s complex and inviting at the same time. Winemaker Philippe Melka thinks this is the best Viognier they’ve produced to date and we agree. 320 cases were produced of this current offering.
