Realm ‘Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard sits in a residential neighborhood on the west side of town, an unassuming site bordered by an old riverbed and a rock quarry. The vineyard was originally planted in 1858 by San Franciscan Dr. George Belden Crane; today it is owned by Andy Beckstoffer, who replanted it to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in 1998. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard displays an opaque purple-black color. "It saunters confidently out of the glass with compelling notes of warm black plums, blackcurrant cordial, Morello cherries and black raspberries followed by an opulent perfume of exotic spices, dusty soil, rose oil and crushed rocks with a waft of sandalwood. Full-bodied, rich, seductive and so, so spicy, the palate possesses a multitude of savory, earth and preserved fruit layers, framed by an achingly beautiful velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long, long, long—truly showing off its latent power. Realm ‘Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Realm has been fortunate to work with grapes from Beckstoffer To Kalon since founder Juan Mercado began producing wine in 2002. Comprised of a portion of the historical To Kalon vineyard planted in 1868, the 89-acre parcel was acquired by Andy Beckstoffer in 1993 and replanted to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. “The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from five different blocks, and was harvested ‘in multiple picks, at a leisurely pace.’ Deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls sensuously out of the glass with decadent scents of boysenberries, black cherries, redcurrant jelly and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of bouquet garni, black soil and iron ore. Full-bodied, the taut, tightly knit black and red fruit has a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins and bags of freshness, finishing very long with loads of earth and mineral nuances coming through.”- Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 

Realm ‘Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
This 2018 release marks the debut vintage of Realm’s Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard Cabernet but winemaker Benoit Touquette knows the vineyard well as he used to produce Kata, which came from Bourn beginning in 2011 and no longer is made under the Kata label. This single vineyard from Beckstoffer comes from the west side of St. Helena and is “deep garnet-purple in color and the nose of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Bourn leaps from the glass with a stunning perfume of violets, dark chocolate, clove oil, star anise and incense over a lifted core of crème de cassis, blueberry pie and stewed black cherries. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has great tension and energy, featuring tightly wound black fruit and spicy layers plus a firm backbone of nice, ripe tannins, finishing long and fragrant. This is a very exciting new vineyard expression from Realm!” -Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 

Realm ‘Farella Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
As a longtime partner as a grape grower for Realm, Tom Farella recently sold the vineyard to them and in the next few years will be transitioning ownership to them. So this Napa Valley vineyard in the Coombsville AVA will be Realm’s second estate vineyard. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, “the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is their first "Estate" wine from the vineyard. Deep garnet-purple colored, it comes bounding out of the glass with youthful notes of fresh black plums, Morello cherries, ripe blackcurrants and Black Forest cake plus hints of cumin seed, damp earth and spice box with subtle hints of tobacco and new leather. Medium to full-bodied, it has a solid foundation of fir, grainy tannins and lovely freshness supporting the bright, crunchy fruit, finishing long with a provocative, lifted perfume.” -Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
