Many haven’t heard of Doug Danielak, but he is a quiet legend—part of a small group of Chardonnay pioneers in the 1980s who set out to craft wines more aligned with the great houses of Burgundy. That group included Helen Turley of Marcassin, David Ramey of Ramey Cellars, Ted Lemon of Littorai, and Doug. Today, they are regarded among the best—those who truly helped put great California Chardonnay on the map.

This Russian River Valley Chardonnay, made by Doug, quietly ranks among the finest in California today. The 2022 vintage, crafted from the renowned Montrachet clone and grown in powdery white Goldridge soils just five miles from the Pacific, offers aromas of white peach, Meyer lemon, and citrus blossom, with a smooth, luxurious texture. A fine thread of minerality provides structure and supports graceful aging for a decade or more. Only 75 cases were produced.
