Included in this gift set with special holiday pricing is one bottle each of 2017 Ancillary 'Sun Chase Vineyard' Pinot Noir, 2016 Vivier ‘Gap’s Crown Vineyard’ Pinot Noir and 2017 Pont Neuf ‘La Fontaine’ Pinot Noir. Ancillary's Sun Chase Vineyard delivered only the best to the bottle this year. Strikingly complex & rich, this beautifully proportioned Pinot Noir delivers an initial burst of red berry fruit with notes of red and black licorice. From there the wines quickly gains traction and depth, with firm, layered tannins that give the spicy berry flavors a perfect foundation. While Mike Smith might be most known for his perfect score efforts at Carter Cellars, Myriad and McGah, he also makes great Pinot Noir. In partnership with Mark Carter of Carter Cellars, Ancillary has been a Pinot we’ve been supporting since their first vintage which was 2012. The second Pinot Noir included is the 2016 Vivier Gap's Crown Pinot Noir. Gap's Crown, tucked on the western hillside of Sonoma Mountain, is fanned by the cool ocean breezes that push through the Petaluma Gap. Their block is between 980-1180 feet above sea level. This is a favorite of Stéphane Vivier's because of the long growing season, rocky soil and inhospitable weather which produces rich aromatics and complexity in the glass. A mere 53 cases were produced of the third Pinot Noir in this gift set- the 2017 Pont Neuf ‘La Fontaine’ Pinot Noir. It was produced from Silver Eagle Vineyard - a single vineyard on Stoetz Ridge, which is the last ridge before the Sonoma Coastline. The Pinot Noir selections originated in Chambolle Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. La Fontaine is a compelling balance of spice, forest floor, and berry fruits. It unfolds in the glass with a burst of energy, exotic aromas and a complete range of subtle small black fruits including cassis.
