This newest vintage from Norma Hunt’s Knights Valley estate vineyard, Bidwell Creek, is one of the best Reds coming from its respective AVA and represents the potential of their 15-acre site. It is full-bodied, inky dark, and offers a nose of blackberry, blueberry, dusty cocoa, and baking spice that glides onto the palate. The texture is silky with ‘youthful tannins which are tamed by a quick decant’. The finish lingers and showcases the dark fruit components. Made by Philippe Melka and farmed by Jim Barbour, this is an all-star team showcasing the best of what Knights Valley has to offer. In 2000, Norma and Lamar Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs, purchased a ranch along the banks of Bidwell Creek and began restoration of the site that would later become Bidwell Creek Estate and Vineyard.  After restoring the riparian border along their stretch of Bidwell Creek and reinvigorating the Estate’s prime agricultural soils, they planted the first block of vineyard in 2002. 265 cases were produced.
