We recently tasted Paradigm’s estate Cabernet Sauvignon from their western Oakville vineyard and loved it. It had been a few years since trying their wine and this newest vintage continues to be an incredible Oakville Red that is very much underpriced and continues to shine in this very talented and competitive AVA. Winemaker Heidi Barrett has been making Paradigm since their first vintage in 1991 from their 50-acre vineyard. The 2018 fills the glass with aromas of blackberry jam, black cherry, and cassis. Big and rich across the palate, it is delicious. A nice ripe vintage produced a wine with berry and dark cherry pie flavors layered with hints of caramel toast, French Oak, spice, and depth of flavor. The texture is dense with medium weight, tannins, and oak influence. Flavors persists several minutes after tasting. It is a blockbuster wine that will greatly improve with a few more years in the bottle.” -Heidi Barrett, winemaker.
