The 2023 vintage is already being called “the vintage of a lifetime” and “the best in a decade.” A cool spring, moderate summer, and exceptionally long hang time created ideal conditions for beautifully ripened fruit. This Cabernet Sauvignon is muscular yet refined, with layers of black currant, boysenberry, and Bing cherry, accented by subtle notes of mocha and tobacco. True to Larkin’s style, the finish is long and satisfying, with fine-grained tannins balancing the wine’s vibrant fruit core.

We’ve long admired our friend Sean Larkin’s Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, so we were thrilled to taste his Cabernet Sauvignon. A native of Scotland, Sean founded Larkin Napa Valley after an early career in the sheet-metal industry in New Jersey. His passion for wine eventually led him to become a sommelier and later a wine broker in Napa, where—like so many great stories—one thing led to another, and he began learning winemaking from some of the region’s most respected talents.
