Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Napa Valley

Of the three new releases from Larkmead, this 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet is the juiciest and fleshiest. The most approachable, this newly released Cabernet is still full-bodied with rich tannins and a supple texture. Comprised of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, notes of black and red fruit with crushed cobblestone fill the glass. Upon opening with just about a half-hour in the glass, the wine started to open and really show its potential.The 2013 vintage marks the first year of production with the new winery set-up. Instead of all the wine coming in and being co-fermented regardless of variety or vineyard blocks, winemaker Dan Petroski was able to lead the charge with transforming how they ferment and barrel age with the new design of the winery. The wines are now separately fermented and aged according to vineyard blocks. In the bottle, that means wines with more precision and focus.
