Clos des Brusquières ‘Châteauneuf-du-Pape’ Red 2021
With only 8 hectares (less than 20 acres) under vine, Clos des Brusquières is effectively a micro producer. The family-run estate produces only one wine, giving it all of their focus. The current owner Claude Courtil inherited the project from his father, and his two sons now run winemaking operations.

The family holdings are located in the Orange region within Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This area is known for its limestone-rich soils, which impart a palpable mineral component to the wines. The vines are 70 years and older, furthering the complexity. The wines are aged entirely in large cement and used oak foudres with only indigenous yeast and bottled unfiltered. If you want to taste a truly classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this is the cork to pull.

Clos des Papes ‘Châteauneuf-du-Pape’ Red 2017
This Domaine, established in 1896 by the Avril family, who was instrumental in the creation of the appellation, is currently run by Paul Vincent Avril. While there is a history of exceptional quality, critics and consumers concur these wines are reaching new heights. Paul Vincent’s story is reminiscent of that of Napa’s Maya Dalla Valle. Although slated to inherit exceptional estates, both these winemakers went to great lengths to ensure they were ready for the challenge, receiving classical educations and earning their roles in winemaking history. Paul Vincent’s resume includes time at Château Mouton-Rothschild.

Today, Clos des Papes possesses 24 parcels, all farmed by hand. Paul Vincent keeps yields low and destems all grapes. A traditionalist at heart, he uses no new oak and bottles the wines unfiltered. The final blend is 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, and 5% other permitted varieties. This is one of few estates to use all 13 permitted varieties.

Domaine du Pégau ‘Cuvée Réservée’ Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red 2019
The Féraud family has been tending vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1670, and today father Paul and daughter Laurence carry on the tradition at Domaine du Pégau. In the past 30 years, the domaine has acquired new and exceptional vineyard sites to bring the quality of these wines to new heights. The domaine has become a benchmark for fine wine production in the region.

Cuvée Réservée, comprised of 80% Grenache with smaller amounts of Syrah and Mourvedre, undergoes no de-stemming and is fermented entirely whole cluster, imparting a richer structure. It employs only indigenous yeast and is aged in old oak casks for 2 years. Antonio Galloni loved this vintage of the wine as much as we do, bestowing it with 97 points.
