CaterwaulNapa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021- Special Priced 3-Pack
Dark, complex, and structured, the 2021 vintage delivers an unforgettable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon profile that comes from having access to some of the finest vineyards in the valley. The wine displays a completely opaque dark purple hue in the glass. The palate experience has an interwoven dark fruit core with lively peripheral notes that lean more towards brambly red fruit. Notes of blackberry paste, leather and cocoa nib dominate the mid palate while the lengthy finish expresses brighter notes of raspberry, dark cherry, and blueberries. The sleek mouthfeel is framed by finely integrated tannins and a balanced acidity, allowing for immediate enjoyment or a little time in the cellar. Like many of the finest vintages in Napa and Sonoma counties, 2021 was marked by high quality and low yields. Throughout the early growing season and into late Spring this area received almost no precipitation, continuing another year of drought conditions. The vines responded appropriately, setting a small crop load. Specific vineyard practices we instituted included leaving extra leaf coverage in the fruiting zone to protect the small berries and clusters from getting excessive exposure to heat and direct sunlight.
Thomas Rivers Brown, winemaker for some of Napa Valley and Sonoma’s most iconic labels including Schrader Cellars, Maybach, Pulido-Walker and his own winery, Rivers-Marie, has earned more than 50 (that's right, 50) 100-point wines throughout his career so far. Matt Hardin, a 6th generation Napa Valley resident and farmer, was a partner in Barbour Vineyard Management, one of the most renowned vineyard management companies in Northern California which has farmed and developed some of the most iconic vineyards in Napa Valley. Working together for more than the last decade over numerous projects, their friendship developed. Out of that friendship, the idea of working together and utilizing the strengths of each other, Caterwaul was born in the 2014 vintage.
