Baker & HamiltonCabernet Sauvignon 2019- Special Priced 3-Pack
This debut vintage of Baker & Hamilton comes from the Phillips family, owners of Vine Hill Ranch. A newspaper clipping from the St. Helena Star in October 1874, describes the namesake of this wine best. “The success of Baker & Hamilton, the well-known dealers in farming implements and machines and all kinds of hardware, illustrates the truth of the saying that energy and enterprise always bring their reward.” This debut vintage comes from the 70-acre vineyard on Bruce and Heather Phillips’ western Oakville property. Vine Hill Ranch began in 1959 when Bruce’s father, Bob Phillips, began farming grapes. Most of the fruit continues to be sold to longtime winery clients as well as newer ones who are fortunate to now source from this premier grower vineyard. But since 2008, the Phillips family has kept a little fruit back to produce their own estate Cabernet. And you can’t ask for a better winemaking team than winemaker, Francoise Peschon, and vineyard manager, Mike Wolf. Aged for 23 months in 100% French oak (85% new French oak), this 2019 is “silky and gracious. The 2019 is a wonderfully understated, classy Cabernet that shows the more restrained side of the year in its super-classic mid-weight feel. Cedar, tobacco, and sweet floral notes add gorgeous inner perfume.” 789 cases were produced.
