SLOAN Estate Red 2012
Rutherford – 750mL

SLOAN Estate Red 2012 Rutherford - K. Laz Wine Collection

Last year because of my move with starting my company, I missed the release of this longtime favorite winery of mine so I’m happy to be able to once again offer Sloan. Their 2012 Estate Red comes from their 13-acre Rutherford eastern hillside vineyard that was planted in the late 90’s by David Abreu and continues to be produced by Martha McClellan with Michel Rolland consulting. Elevation there ranges from 875 to 995 feet. It is a spectacular property with a full range of exposures for the fruit to thrive. The 2012 is a signature Sloan offering with richly focused black and blue fruit, graphite, cocoa dusting and sweet cedar. It is comprised mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot rounding out the wine. Interesting to note, I tasted a few older vintage Reds a few weeks ago and Sloan came out on top.
