Pont ‘Le Pont Neuf’ Chardonnay 2014 Russian River Valley - K. Laz Wine Collection
As we continually taste more wines, it becomes more apparent that there are a lot more consistently great Cabernets than there are Chardonnays. So when we come to the table and taste an incredible Chardonnay, it’s a great feeling. We’ve always enjoyed Doug Danielak’s wines but we were really impressed by this full-bodied, intensely complex 2014 Chardonnay. This new release comes from Ulises Valdez’s Lancel Creek Vineyard in Russian River Valley. Ulises is one of the best vineyard growers and farmers in Sonoma and is considered the David Abreu of Sonoma. This vineyard is less than six miles from the Pacific Coast is planted entirely of the Montrachet clone. In the 2014 vintage, this vineyard yielded less than two tons per acre. “Wet stone, mineral, honey, brioche, and white peach aromas are supported by a vibrant acidity, concentrated ?avors and rich weight on the palate. The ?ne texture alone keeps us coming back for more. Best now-2030.” 70 cases were produced of this current offering. We highly recommend this Chardonnay.
