Miura 'Pisoni Vineyard' Pinot Noir 2013

It sure feels good to bring in a single-vineyard Pinot Noir sourced from Pisoni Vineyard, especially this beautiful 2013 offering by Miura. Pisoni Vineyard is one of the most highly-regarded Pinot Noir vineyards in CA and for good reason. The wines produced from Pisoni have an intensity and richness matched by few other Pinot Noirs anywhere. The vineyard is tucked among the hills and dry creek beds of the southern part of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey. Vines are planted in several small blocks on what appears to be gravel and sand eroded down from the mountains. This 2013 offers balance with good structure and pure dark briary fruit notes with layers of fresh forest floor. While showing well now it could be aged for at least 4-6 more years and still offer pure fruit notes.
