Maybach Amoenus Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 Napa Valley

The 2014 vintage marks the fifth release of Maybach Amoenus, which comes from Blossom Creek Vineyard located on the Western side of Calistoga, where the moderating temperatures of the Black Mountain Gap are 10-15 degrees cooler than on the Eastern side. This allows for gradual ripening and good maturation. “With the 2014, fruit, acid, structure and varietal notes all hit the palate simultaneously. Digging for detail on the nose and palate, the first impressions are soil-driven: graphite, creosote and crushed rock. The flavors have good concentration without being overly brooding or clamped down. There’s a nice freshness to the wine as well, a factor of the abundant natural acidity and well-integrated oak.
