A great Cabernet for a really great price, this newly released Le Pich 2013 Cabernet is medium to full-bodied with notes of blackberry and chocolate. A constant front-runner, Le Pich’s popularity is due to its unparalleled classic Napa Valley depth and balance. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was made by Julien Fayard, former head of winemaking for Philippe Melka’s Atelier Melka, and is the more approachable Cabernet for Purlieu’s winery. 400 cases were produced of this current offering.

Le Pich gets its name from a Wappo Indian term meaning “golden eagle.” You can often spot them in Napa Valley as they soar, glide, circle and arc. They are beautiful birds — stately and impressive, but not haughty or boasting, with a nimbleness that’s inspiring. The Wappo Indians were local in Northern California and specifically where Napa Valley is today.
