Abreu Madrona Ranch Red 2012St. Helena

We had the privilege of recently hosting a tasting in partnership with the Abreu Vineyards team in which we shared with a great group of wine friends the 2006 vintage of six wines that were all planted by David Abreu. In the mix were Sloan, Colgin, Staglin, Kenzo, Harlan and Abreu Madrona Ranch. My favorite in this phenomenal line-up was Abreu’s own Madrona Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon. Like the 2006, this 2012 will exceed your expectations not only if you let it decant for an hour or two but if you lay it down for another year or two.“A candidate for perfection, the 2012 Madrona Ranch offers an enormous blast of violets, mulberries, black currants and licorice-infused blackberries…that soars from the glass of this full-bodied, voluptuously textured, inky-colored, dense, rich, pedal-to-the-metal proprietary Red. This has virtually perfect balance, a flawless integration of all its component parts, and an enormous finish of close to a minute. This should turn out to be an amazing wine. Moreover, 2012 is a generous vintage in terms of production. This cuvee should drink well reasonably young and continue to evolve for 25-30+ years.” – Wine Advocate, 98-100 Points. 400 cases were produced.
